The AUVSI Foundation focuses on the future of robotics by developing hands-on educational programs that attract and equip students for a career in this rapidly growing field. This organization directly sponsors 5 annual autonomous vehicle competitions as well as other robotics events around the world.
In 2012 MathWorks is sponsoring two 2012 AUVSI Competitions.
- For RoboBoat, student teams race autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) of their own design through an aquatic obstacle course.
- For RoboSub, student teams perform realistic missions with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) in an underwater environment.
